Twickenham, May 2019 – Councillor Gareth Roberts, Leader of the Council of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, has joined the Honorary Committee of the Portuguese Appeal.
Cllr Roberts was elected as a Liberal Democrat councillor for the Hampton Ward and as Leader of the Council following local elections held in May 2018.
The Chairman of the Appeal, Mr Anthony Bailey, met with Cllr Roberts in his municipal offices at York House in Twickenham to update him on the progress of the Appeal and its plans to erect a statue within the Borough honouring longstanding local resident and the former king of Portugal, Dom Manuel II.
